Pet First Aid Workshop

Be a Pet’s First Responder!

This 4-hour workshop aims to empower pet owners and animal care professionals to recognize and respond to common pet emergencies. The workshop will be presented by Dr. Heather Becker from Animal Emergency Medical Training (AEMT).

Topics that will be discussed includes:

  • Recognizing and assessing injuries and medical emergencies

  • Assessing airway, breathing, and circulation

  • Bandaging

  • Heat stroke

  • Choking

  • Near-drowning

  • Basic cardiopulmonary life support (BLS) certification in partnership with RECOVER

Regular Tickets $150

Optional Pet CPR certification available​!

In partnership with RECOVER, there will also be an optional Pet CPR certification available.

To receive your Pet CPR certification, you MUST complete RECOVER’s online Pet CPR program prior to Summit’s in-person workshop. To do so:

1) Go to RECOVER’s learning website: https://learning.acvecc.org/topclass/login.do and create an account, then purchase the Pet CPR Course (https://recoverinitiative.org/pet-owners-and-pet-professionals/). The online course is $35 (not included in Summit workshop enrollment). You can use the following discount code to save 20% on the online registration: Rescuer20

2) Complete the online training prior to attending the event (the course takes about 1 hour to complete). Please bring a copy of your online certificate of completion for the In-Person Pet CPR course (you can also show a copy of it on your phone.)

3) Attend the full In-Person RECOVER Pet CPR Rescuer Course (this workshop at Summit!)

*This workshop is not to become a Pet CPR Certified Instructor. This Pet CPR Course is for pet owners and professionals.
